Osun State – Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has warned President Bola Tinubu that the people of the state will not tolerate any form of rigging in the forthcoming governorship election scheduled for August 15.

Adeleke’s warning comes as INEC works to resolve a Bimodal Voter Accreditation System glitch affecting old Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the closely watched poll, an issue that has raised concerns among candidates and their supporters.

The governor, now contesting under the Accord Party after his exit from the PDP, has continued to frame the election as a test of the people’s democratic will against what he describes as external interference.

The warning adds to mounting political tension ahead of the poll, coming just weeks after the brief detention of Osun’s Secretary to the State Government over alleged vote buying related offences.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has not directly responded to Adeleke’s remarks, though the commission has continued working to resolve technical issues affecting voter accreditation ahead of election day.

With the poll now less than two weeks away, political tension in Osun is expected to intensify as parties finalise their campaign activities across the state’s local government areas.
