The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has deployed more than 1,000 young professionals into its workforce after they successfully completed a one year internship, training and evaluation programme.

The programme was designed to build a pipeline of skilled young talent within the national oil company, combining structured training with practical evaluation before full absorption into permanent roles.

NNPCL said the deployment reflects its commitment to building indigenous capacity within Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, particularly as the company continues to expand its operations across upstream, midstream and downstream activities.

The initiative comes at a time of significant activity in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector, including the completion of Dangote Refinery’s landmark private equity placement ahead of a planned public listing.

Company officials say the newly deployed professionals will be distributed across various departments and operational units, contributing to NNPCL’s broader workforce development and succession planning objectives.

The deployment adds to ongoing efforts by Nigerian companies and government agencies to address youth unemployment through structured internship and training pathways into full time employment.
