Plateau State – The management of the University of Jos has summoned all students to an emergency meeting scheduled for Friday at the Faculty of Social Sciences Auditorium, citing recent developments that threaten the peace, security and reputation of the institution.

The university has declared a lecture free period to enable students attend the meeting, according to an internal memorandum referenced UJ/VC/55, dated July 29 and signed by Vice Chancellor Professor Tanko Ishaya.

“In view of recent events that threaten the peace, security and good image of our University, I have approved the convening of a crucial meeting with all students of the University of Jos,” Ishaya stated in the memorandum.

The meeting is expected to address general security concerns within the university community, alongside what the memorandum described as recent unhealthy activities involving students and measures required to protect institutional welfare.

The emergency meeting follows a recent incident in which a beheaded corpse was discovered on the university’s Permanent Site campus, an incident that heightened security concerns among students and staff.

University authorities are expected to announce concrete security measures following Friday’s meeting, as the institution works to reassure students and staff amid growing concerns over campus safety.
