Gombe State – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Gombe State Command, has pledged to collaborate with the Partnership Against Violent Extremism Network to strengthen community resilience, protect schools and safeguard lives and property across the state.

State Commandant of the NSCDC, Idris Jibrin, gave the assurance when members of the PAVE Network’s Gombe State Chapter paid him an advocacy visit at the command headquarters in Gombe.

Jibrin said the corps remained committed to safeguarding lives and property while upholding the fundamental human rights of citizens, describing the partnership as a valuable addition to the state’s counter extremism efforts.

The PAVE Network’s engagement with formal security agencies reflects a broader push to integrate community based resilience programmes into Nigeria’s counterterrorism and extremism prevention strategies.

The partnership is expected to focus particularly on school protection measures, an area of growing concern given the pattern of school linked abductions affecting multiple Nigerian states in recent months.

NSCDC officials say the collaboration will include joint community engagement activities aimed at building resilience against extremist recruitment and violent radicalisation in vulnerable communities across Gombe State.
