President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a pay raise for Nigeria’s armed forces, raising military salaries to N924 billion annually. The decision, announced by the Presidency, is part of a wider effort to boost morale, strengthen national security, and professionalise the armed forces.
According to official figures, the new salary structure covers personnel across the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The increment is designed to reflect current economic realities and reward the sacrifices of military officers engaged in counter-insurgency and peacekeeping operations.
Presidential aides explained that the pay rise is not only about welfare but also about reinforcing discipline and efficiency within the armed forces. Tinubu emphasised that improved remuneration would reduce corruption risks, enhance loyalty, and motivate officers to perform their duties with greater commitment.
