At least 24 people have been confirmed dead and several others injured following a fresh attack in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State. The incident, which occurred late on Monday night, has once again raised concerns about recurring violence in the region.
Local sources said armed men invaded communities in Bokkos, shooting indiscriminately and setting houses ablaze. Residents fled in panic, while others were caught in the crossfire. Survivors reported that the attackers struck suddenly, leaving little chance for escape.
Security agencies have since deployed personnel to the affected areas. The Plateau State Police Command confirmed the attack and said investigations are ongoing. A spokesperson noted that patrols have been intensified to prevent further violence and reassure residents.
