Nigerian forward reaches career milestone on Atletico Madrid debut following breakthrough years at Atalanta
Nigerian international Ademola Lookman has reached 100 career goals across club and country, achieving the milestone on his Atletico Madrid debut against Real Betis, according to Soccernet.ng.
The Super Eagles forward’s journey to triple digits spans 11 years, five countries, and a remarkable transformation from promising English prospect to proven European goal scorer.
From Promise to Frustration in England
Lookman launched his professional career at Charlton Athletic, netting 12 times in 49 appearances for the Addicks before securing a Premier League transfer to Everton. However, the move to Goodison Park proved challenging. Goals dried up as he managed just four in 48 outings.

At Leicester City, signs of maturity emerged. Eight goals in 42 matches demonstrated growing reliability as an attacking threat in both domestic and European competition.
Italian Renaissance Under Gasperini
Everything changed in Bergamo. Under manager Gian Piero Gasperini at Atalanta, Lookman exploded into the most productive phase of his career, recording 55 goals across 137 appearances in Serie A and continental tournaments.
