The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has confirmed that its 2026/2027 Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (Post-UTME) aptitude test will begin on Monday, July 27, with the institution urging candidates to comply strictly with examination guidelines and avoid every form of malpractice.
The university said the online screening exercise will run until Friday, July 31, forming a key stage in its admission process for prospective undergraduate students seeking admission into various academic programmes.
UNILAG stressed that candidates must conduct themselves responsibly throughout the examination, warning that violations of its regulations could attract severe disciplinary measures, including disqualification from the admission process.
According to the institution, the Post-UTME will be conducted online under remotely monitored conditions. Candidates are expected to use a laptop equipped with an in-built webcam and microphone, while their activities will be recorded throughout the examination to protect the integrity of the screening exercise.
The university explained that any attempt to impersonate another candidate, receive unauthorised assistance, communicate with another person during the examination, use prohibited electronic devices or log into the examination platform through multiple sessions would amount to examination misconduct. Such actions, it said, could lead to cancellation of the candidate’s examination and withdrawal from the screening exercise.
UNILAG also advised applicants to ensure they have a stable internet connection and reliable electricity supply before the examination begins. The institution noted that it would not be responsible for disruptions caused by power outages, network failures or internet service interruptions beyond its control.
To strengthen transparency, the university stated that it reserves the right to verify the identity of every candidate before, during and after the examination. It added that any examination in which a candidate’s identity cannot be satisfactorily confirmed may be declared invalid.
The institution further reminded candidates that compliance with all examination instructions is compulsory. It warned that ignorance of the guidelines would not be accepted as an excuse for any breach of the rules.
Beyond examination conduct, UNILAG renewed its warning against fraud linked to the admission exercise. The university said it had not authorised any cybercafé, business centre, CBT operator or individual to conduct or supervise the Post-UTME examination on its behalf.
It urged candidates and members of the public to ignore advertisements or messages requesting additional payments or claiming affiliation with the university’s admission process. The institution maintained that all official information relating to registration, examination schedules, eligibility requirements and screening procedures would only be published through its recognised communication channels, particularly its official website.
UNILAG also cautioned applicants against making payments to unauthorised persons or organisations. It warned that anyone who chooses to deal with fraudulent agents does so at their own risk, adding that the university would not accept liability for financial losses or denied access resulting from such transactions.
The university disclosed that the approved payment for the screening exercise remains ₦5,500, comprising an application fee and an administrative charge. Candidates were advised not to make any extra payments outside the official process.
Eligible applicants include candidates who selected the University of Lagos as their first-choice institution in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and scored at least 200. Applicants must also possess the required O’Level credits and complete all registration requirements before the stipulated deadlines.
UNILAG reaffirmed that maintaining the credibility of its admission process remains a priority. It said every reported case of examination misconduct or technical irregularity would be investigated before appropriate decisions are taken. The university added that its verdict on matters relating to the administration and outcome of the screening exercise would be final.
As the screening date approaches, the university encouraged candidates to prepare adequately, familiarise themselves with the examination procedures and rely solely on verified information issued through its official communication platforms. It emphasised that strict adherence to the published guidelines remains the surest path to a smooth and successful Post-UTME exercise.
