PDP Vows to Unseat APC in 2027, Ignores ADC’s ‘Baseless’ Attacks

Abuja, Nigeria – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared it will not engage in a war of words with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) or any rival opposition party, choosing instead to focus its efforts on unseating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

In a strongly worded statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the PDP dismissed recent remarks by ADC’s Interim National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, as an “unprovoked verbal assault” orchestrated to distract from the party’s growing momentum.

The PDP accused Abdullahi, a former APC spokesman, of attempting to shield his former party from scrutiny while attacking the opposition. “Instead of addressing Nigeria’s pressing issues, Abdullahi is doing the APC’s bidding,” Ologunagba stated.

The party reaffirmed its commitment to constructive opposition, leveraging its historical achievements and nationwide support base to challenge the APC’s governance failures. “Nigerians remember the PDP’s legacy and trust us to restore good governance,” the statement read.

Confidence Amid Defections

Despite recent high-profile defections, the PDP remains confident in its grassroots strength. “Nigerians stand with us—the real organic force behind this movement,” Ologunagba asserted. The party also hinted at its deep bench of potential presidential candidates capable of defeating President Bola Tinubu.

With a major National Convention scheduled for November 2025 in Ibadan, the PDP is prioritizing internal unity and strategic planning. “Our focus is on rescuing Nigeria, not petty squabbles,” the statement concluded.
