Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations as trade between the two nations reached $5 billion.
The review, held in Abuja, brought together senior government officials and business leaders from both countries. Discussions focused on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, aviation, and technology.
Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized the importance of the partnership, noting that the UAE has become one of Nigeria’s key trading partners in the Middle East. “Our relationship with the UAE continues to grow. The $5bn trade volume reflects the strength of our economic ties, but there is room for greater collaboration,” the minister said.

UAE representatives highlighted their interest in expanding investments in Nigeria’s energy, infrastructure, and aviation sectors. They stressed that Nigeria’s large market and strategic position in Africa make it an attractive destination for Emirati investors.
The meeting also addressed challenges in visa policies and air travel between both countries. Officials confirmed that efforts are underway to resolve outstanding issues affecting Nigerian travelers and businesses operating in the UAE.
