Civil society organisations (CSOs) have called for a thorough investigation into the role of Senator Francis Fadahunsi during the recent Osun State election.
The demand was made in a joint statement issued in Osogbo, where the groups expressed concern about allegations surrounding the senator’s conduct during the polls. They argued that a transparent inquiry is necessary to safeguard electoral integrity and public confidence in Nigeria’s democratic process.
According to the CSOs, reports of irregularities and alleged interference by political actors must be addressed to prevent future disputes. “We urge the relevant authorities to investigate the role of Senator Fadahunsi in the Osun election. Nigerians deserve clarity and accountability,” the statement read.

The organisations stressed that their call was not targeted at any individual but aimed at ensuring that all stakeholders are held accountable for their actions during elections. They noted that the credibility of Nigeria’s democracy depends on the impartial enforcement of electoral laws.
Observers say the demand reflects growing pressure from civil society for stronger oversight of political actors. In recent years, CSOs have played a key role in monitoring elections and advocating reforms to reduce malpractice.
Political analysts believe the investigation, if carried out, could set an important precedent for holding elected officials accountable. They argue that transparency in electoral processes is critical to building trust between citizens and institutions.

Residents of Osun State have expressed mixed reactions, with some supporting the call for investigation while others view it as politically motivated. Community leaders, however, emphasised the need for fairness and urged authorities to handle the matter without bias.

Civil society groups reiterated that their demand is part of a broader push for electoral reforms. They called on the National Assembly and relevant agencies to strengthen laws against vote-buying, intimidation, and interference by political actors.
For Nigeria’s democracy, the outcome of such investigations could shape future elections. Analysts say ensuring accountability will discourage malpractice and encourage greater participation by citizens.
As the debate continues, stakeholders agree that transparency and fairness remain central to the credibility of Nigeria’s electoral system. The call for investigation into Senator Fadahunsi’s role underscores the importance of civil society in pushing for accountability and reform.
