he Nigeria Police Force has arrested Mr. Adeyemi, who claimed to be the Director-General of the Private Finance Initiative Projects Commission (PFIPC). The arrest took place in Abuja following allegations of impersonation and fraudulent activities.
Police sources revealed that Adeyemi allegedly paraded himself as the head of PFIPC, a non-existent government agency. He reportedly used the false identity to defraud unsuspecting individuals and organisations. Investigators said he issued fake documents and made promises of government-backed contracts.
Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the arrest. He explained that Adeyemi was apprehended after intelligence reports linked him to fraudulent schemes. Adejobi stressed that PFIPC is not recognised by the Federal Government, describing Adeyemi’s actions as criminal impersonation.
Several victims have come forward, claiming they were deceived into paying money for contracts and projects supposedly facilitated by PFIPC. Police said evidence recovered from Adeyemi included forged documents, fake identity cards, and fraudulent correspondence.
The police have launched a full investigation into Adeyemi’s activities. Authorities are working to identify accomplices and recover funds collected from victims. Adejobi urged Nigerians to be cautious and verify the authenticity of government agencies before engaging in financial transactions.
The Force reiterated its commitment to tackling fraud and impersonation. Adejobi warned that criminals often exploit the names of government institutions to defraud citizens. He advised the public to report suspicious activities to the police immediately.
Adeyemi is expected to face charges of impersonation, fraud, and obtaining money under false pretence. Police said the case will be prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others engaged in similar crimes.
The arrest highlights growing concerns about fraudulent schemes targeting individuals and organisations in Nigeria. Security experts have urged government agencies to intensify public awareness campaigns to prevent citizens from falling victim to impersonators.
