LAGOS — The public dispute between broadcaster Frank Edoho and his estranged wife Sandra Onyenucheya has escalated further. Onyenucheya has added fresh allegations against Edoho, now claiming he subjected her to domestic violence and sold her property without her knowledge or consent.
Onyenucheya made the new disclosures in posts shared on her social media accounts on Wednesday. She said Edoho sold a property she co-owned during their marriage without informing her. She also alleged physical violence occurred during the relationship.
The new claims build on earlier allegations she made public in early May 2026. In those initial posts, she accused Edoho of infidelity, emotional abuse, and financial abandonment. Those allegations went viral and triggered nationwide debate.
Edoho broke his silence last weekend in an interview, revealing his fear of dying from emotional pain caused by a woman. However, he did not directly address her specific allegations. He has still not issued a formal denial of the property sale or domestic violence claims.
Legal Implications
Lawyers say the property sale allegation, if proven, could constitute a criminal offence under Nigerian law. Selling jointly owned property without a co-owner’s consent can be challenged in court as fraudulent disposition of property.
However, legal experts caution that social media allegations are not evidence. Any legal action would require documentary proof such as property deeds, sale records, and evidence of ownership. Both parties would need to appear before a court or tribunal for a formal determination.
Furthermore, domestic violence allegations carry their own legal weight. Nigeria’s Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act criminalises physical, emotional, and economic abuse within relationships. Victims can file police reports and seek protective orders under the law.
Public Debate Intensifies
The case has reignited discussion about domestic violence, celebrity accountability, and the use of social media to air private disputes. Many Nigerians on Twitter/X expressed sympathy for Onyenucheya. Others called for restraint, urging both parties to resolve the matter through proper legal channels rather than social media.
Mental health advocates have again used the story to highlight the emotional toll of public breakdowns on both parties involved. They say the platform amplification of personal crises can cause additional harm to already traumatised individuals.
Edoho’s management team has not responded to requests for comment on the latest allegations. His legal team is expected to issue a formal statement in the coming days. The matter has not yet been filed in any Nigerian court as of Thursday morning.
