LAGOS — Veteran Nigerian broadcaster and TV host Frank Edoho has come under intense public scrutiny this week after his estranged second wife, Sandra Onyenucheya, made serious public allegations against him. Onyenucheya posted a series of claims on social media, alleging infidelity, emotional abuse, financial abandonment, and manipulation.
The posts, which went viral across Twitter/X and Instagram, sparked widespread discussion about the state of the couple’s marriage. Onyenucheya described the relationship as toxic and said she had endured the alleged mistreatment for years before deciding to speak publicly.
Frank Edoho is best known as the long-time host of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire Nigeria, a role that made him one of the most recognized faces on Nigerian television. He has not made any public statement in response to his estranged wife’s allegations as of Thursday.
The allegations have divided public opinion. Some social media users expressed support for Onyenucheya, praising her for speaking out. Others called for caution and said both sides of the story should be heard before conclusions are drawn.
Domestic abuse and marriage disputes among public figures in Nigeria have increasingly become subjects of wider conversation, particularly as more women use social media platforms to share personal experiences. Advocates say such public disclosures, while difficult, help challenge social silence around abuse.
The Centre for Women’s Health and Information, a Lagos-based nonprofit, said the Edoho case reflects a broader pattern of women in Nigeria facing barriers when seeking redress for abuse. The center urged women in similar situations to report to law enforcement and seek legal support.
Edoho married Onyenucheya, a UK-based businesswoman, following a high-profile divorce from his first wife. The couple had appeared together at public events and initially maintained a largely private family life.
As the story continues to circulate on social media, many Nigerians have called on Frank Edoho to address the allegations directly. Celebrity drama of this nature often draws significant attention in Nigeria, where public figures are held to high standards of conduct by their audiences.
Neither Frank Edoho nor his legal representatives have made a formal statement as of Thursday evening. The matter has not yet been brought before any Nigerian court.
