Dangote Group Named Africa's Most Admired Brand for 8th Year Running
SHARE

LAGOS — The Dangote Group has been named Africa’s Most Admired Brand for the eighth consecutive year in the Brand Africa 100 rankings. Vanguard confirmed the recognition on Monday. The annual survey, which covers consumer perceptions across multiple African countries, consistently places Dangote ahead of both African and global competitors.

The ranking reflects the extraordinary scale and diversity of the Dangote business empire. From cement and sugar to the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, the group touches the daily lives of hundreds of millions of Africans. Its brand recognition combines with a perception of quality, local ownership, and continental pride.

Aliko Dangote said the recognition is a reflection of the dedication of thousands of employees across multiple countries. He said the eighth consecutive top ranking demonstrates that African businesses can compete globally when they invest in quality, scale, and long-term vision.

The Refinery Effect

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery, which has transformed Nigeria’s fuel supply landscape since ramping to full capacity, has significantly strengthened the brand’s positioning this year. Nigerians who have seen fuel imports decline, the naira stabilise, and Nigeria’s trade surplus improve associate those outcomes partly with the Dangote brand.

Brand analysts said the refinery achievement has elevated Dangote from a respected industrial brand to a symbol of what African entrepreneurship and scale can accomplish. The S&P credit rating upgrade of Nigeria cited the refinery’s impact as a key factor, further connecting the Dangote brand to national economic progress.

The Brand Africa 100 rankings also highlighted MTN Nigeria, Access Bank, and Zenith Bank as strong Nigerian performers in the top 100. However, Dangote’s first-place position was described by Brand Africa as dominant and virtually unassailable given the scale of its continental presence.
