LAGOS — Popular television host Frank Edoho has spoken publicly for the first time since his estranged wife Sandra Onyenucheya made explosive abuse allegations against him online. In an interview with Vanguard, Edoho revealed his deepest personal fear.
Edoho said his greatest fear is dying because of emotional pain caused by a woman. He did not directly address his wife’s allegations in the interview. However, his decision to speak now signals a shift from the silence he maintained for weeks after the story broke.
“I do not want to die because of a woman’s pain. I do not want that to be my story,” Edoho said. The comment has been widely interpreted as a reference to his ongoing personal crisis. It has generated significant discussion on Nigerian social media.
Onyenucheya posted her allegations in early May 2026. She accused Edoho of infidelity, emotional abuse, and financial abandonment. The allegations went viral and divided public opinion sharply. Edoho had remained silent until now.
A Nation Watching
Edoho is one of Nigeria’s most recognisable TV personalities. His long run as host of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire Nigeria made him a household name. As a result, his marital troubles have attracted nationwide attention.
However, many Nigerians say the intense public scrutiny of celebrity marriages is unfair. Others argue that public figures must be accountable, especially when allegations of abuse are involved. The debate has highlighted broader conversations about domestic violence and accountability.
Meanwhile, mental health advocates have used the story to call attention to the emotional toll that public shaming and marital breakdown can take on individuals. They urged Nigerians to approach celebrity news with empathy and responsibility.
No Legal Action Yet
As of Monday, neither Edoho nor Onyenucheya has filed any legal papers related to the matter. Lawyers familiar with Nigerian family law say both parties would need to appear in court if the matter escalates to formal divorce or abuse proceedings.
Several Nigerian celebrities have commented on the story. Some called for privacy for both parties. Others said public allegations must be properly investigated rather than settled in the court of social media opinion.
Edoho has not announced any plans for further media interviews. His management team has also remained largely silent. Observers say his decision to speak at all suggests he is preparing a more detailed public response in the coming days.
