The Nigerian Army has rescued ten kidnapped victims during a clearance operation in Zamfara State, reaffirming its commitment to ending banditry and restoring peace in the Northwest region.
The rescue took place during a coordinated offensive by troops of Operation Hadarin Daji, who stormed several bandit hideouts across the state. The victims, including women and children, were freed after intense gun battles with the armed groups.
According to a statement released by the Army’s spokesperson, the operation was part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal enclaves and secure communities affected by persistent attacks. The troops reportedly acted on credible intelligence that led them to the bandits’ camps in remote forest areas.

Security analysts say the latest rescue underscores the importance of sustained military pressure on criminal networks operating in the region. They note that while progress has been made, the challenge remains significant due to the vast terrain and the mobility of the armed groups.
The Army also disclosed that several weapons, motorcycles, and other items used by the bandits were recovered during the operation. Commanders on the ground have been directed to maintain momentum and expand the offensive to neighboring areas where bandits are believed to be regrouping.

In recent weeks, the Nigerian Army has recorded multiple successes in similar operations across Katsina, Sokoto, and Kaduna states, freeing dozens of abducted persons and dismantling camps used for ransom negotiations.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has repeatedly assured Nigerians that the military will not relent until peace is fully restored in the Northwest. He commended the troops for their bravery and urged citizens to continue providing timely information to aid security operations.
As the fight against banditry continues, the Army’s latest success in Zamfara offers renewed hope to communities long plagued by insecurity. Authorities say the operation marks another step toward reclaiming territories and ensuring that residents can live without fear.
