Former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi has revealed that Nigeria’s opposition leaders have reached a historic agreement to rally behind whichever candidate emerges as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential flagbearer for the 2027 general elections.
Addressing journalists in Port Harcourt, the former Rivers State governor emphasized the coalition’s commitment to democratic principles: “Once a candidate emerges through transparent primaries, we stand united. Our pact demands free and fair elections.”

APC Internal War Erupts Over Buhari Legacy
The opposition move coincides with fresh turmoil within the APC, as chieftain Eze Chukwuemeka Eze publicly challenged claims that President Tinubu was instrumental in Muhammadu Buhari’s 2015 victory.
This rebuttal targeted Tinubu’s media aide Temitope Ajayi, who had asserted that Buhari only won the presidency after Tinubu mobilized Southwest delegates. Eze dismissed this as “historical revisionism,” reigniting tensions between APC factions.
Why This Matters:
With opposition forces consolidating and ruling party unity fracturing, Nigeria’s political landscape appears poised for dramatic realignment as the 2027 elections approach.
As hunger protests spread nationwide, will this emerging ADC coalition capitalize on growing discontent? Political observers suggest the coming months may redefine Nigeria’s power structures.
