Kwara APC Begins 2027 Mobilisation, Rallies Behind Tinubu Re-Election Bid
SHARE

The Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress kicked off its formal 2027 election mobilisation activities at the weekend, rallying support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid and celebrating what party officials described as successfully concluded primary exercises in the state, despite earlier complaints from senators and governorship aspirants about primary irregularities.

State APC Chairman Sunday Falayi said the party was entering the 2027 campaign season with a united front, pointing to what he described as Tinubu’s delivery of development projects in Kwara, including road construction, agricultural investments, and the federal government’s poverty alleviation programmes, as the basis for seeking a renewed mandate.

The Kwara APC’s mobilisation launch conspicuously downplayed the earlier controversy in which senators and governorship aspirants publicly rejected their primary outcomes, alleging manipulation and calling for national party leadership intervention. The state party said those issues had been addressed through internal dialogue and would not affect the party’s cohesion in 2027.

However, political analysts noted that the discontent among aspirants and legislators who felt shortchanged by the primary process remained a potential vulnerability, particularly in a state where the opposition had historically been competitive. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who commands significant influence over the party’s state apparatus, was credited with keeping the mobilisation machinery operational despite the internal turbulence.

Meanwhile, the APC was among nine parties that had collected INEC access codes to upload candidate particulars for 2027, a logistical step that confirmed the party’s readiness to begin the formal nomination process. Furthermore, Vanguard reported that a storm was brewing within the APC over its revised list of National Assembly candidates submitted to INEC, with aggrieved aspirants dragging the party to court and stakeholders demanding fresh representation in some constituencies. Consequently, the APC faces a dual challenge of managing its internal candidate disputes while projecting unity for the 2027 campaign.
