In a shocking case of family betrayal, the FCT Police Command has apprehended two sisters and their accomplices for allegedly orchestrating a fake kidnapping scheme to extort N5 million from their own father.
Police Commissioner Saka Ajao Adewale revealed the disturbing details during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Abuja, exposing how the teenage daughter willingly participated in her own staged abduction while her elder sister pretended to be distraught at home.
The arrests, he said, followed a report from the father, identified as Innocent, a resident of Jikwoyi Phase II, Abuja.

The CP added that subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Joy Innocent, the supposed victim’s elder sister and her boyfriend, Mr. Mayowa Adedeji.
The police revealed that Joy conspired with her boyfriend, who is married to Mrs. Tina Mayowa, to fake the kidnapping of her younger sister in order to defraud their father of N5 million.
The CP said it was further uncovered that Lead Way Innocent was not only aware of the plan but was an active participant in the staged kidnapping, willingly staying with the suspects throughout the period.
He said while the plot unfolded, Joy stayed at home, feigning ignorance and watching her parents’ anguish as they struggled to raise the ransom money.
The CP said all the four suspects are currently in police custody and have voluntarily confessed to the crime, adding that they will be charged in court.
The CP condemned the act of betrayal and manipulation, especially one perpetrated within a family.
He urged parents and guardians to pay close attention to their children’s emotional well-being and behavioural patterns.
Adewale warned that any attempt to exploit family ties for criminal purposes will not be tolerated and will be met with the full weight of the law.
He urged members of the public to report any suspicious activities or emergencies to the command through the following numbers: 0803 200 3913 or 0806 158 1938.
