Europe wants him. Galatasaray is saying no.
Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek has firmly shut the door on any summer departure for Super Eagles captain Victor Osimhen, insisting the club has no intention of selling the Nigerian striker despite intense speculation linking him with some of the biggest clubs in European football. The statement draws a clear line in the transfer sand — at least for now.
The President Speaks
Ozbek was direct and unambiguous in his message. Osimhen is not for sale. The club values the striker enormously and has no interest in parting with him during the upcoming summer window. That stance comes even as clubs from England, Spain, and elsewhere have reportedly been monitoring the situation closely.
Osimhen joined Galatasaray initially on loan from Napoli before the move was made permanent in a record-breaking deal. Since then, he has been one of the most productive strikers in Turkish football. Furthermore, his performances helped the club win the Turkish Super Lig championship this season — scoring twice in the title-clinching victory over Antalyaspor.
The Numbers Behind the Decision
Since arriving in Turkey, Osimhen has scored 59 goals across all competitions — a figure that justifies every cent of his transfer fee and then some. His clinical finishing, physical dominance, and ability to perform in big moments have made him the most important player at the club.
As a result, the decision to hold on to him is not simply sentimental. It is strategic. A club that releases its best player without securing an elite replacement risks losing competitive edge — and Galatasaray is not willing to take that risk.
What Osimhen Has Said
Osimhen himself has not publicly pushed for a move. He has spoken positively about life in Istanbul and his relationship with the club. Still, the transfer window is long and fluid. However, with the president having spoken so clearly, the message from Galatasaray is definitive for now.
For Nigerian fans, Osimhen remaining at a club where he is happy, scoring freely, and winning trophies is not the worst outcome. The Super Eagles captain is thriving. And that is what matters most.
