At least three countries have secured their places in the quarter finals of the ongoing 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, with Cameroon, Morocco and Algeria all booking spots in the last eight following their group stage results.
Cameroon were the first team to qualify after defeating Ghana 1-0 on Sunday, with the Indomitable Lionesses sitting top of Group D with six points from two matches, already guaranteeing a top two finish.
Hosts Morocco advanced to the quarter finals after playing out a goalless draw with Senegal in Rabat on Monday night, with the Atlas Lionesses finishing top of Group A with seven points.

Algeria joined Morocco in qualifying from the group after recording a 2-0 victory over Kenya, securing their place in the knockout stage ahead of the tournament’s remaining group matches.
The early qualifiers add to the growing picture of this year’s WAFCON knockout stage field, with several groups, including Nigeria’s Group C, still to be finalised in the coming days.
The tournament continues to showcase the depth and competitiveness of women’s football across the African continent, with several matches producing tightly contested results in the group stage.
